Fishing Rules and Conditions

Please note that the rules have changed from those on the notice boards situated around the lake.

The rules below are those that should be followed. If in doubt see the bailiff who regularly walks around the lake.

 
General Rules
 
When fishing on the lake you must be in possession of a valid Environment Agency Licence and a Newent Town Council permit or a Newent Angling Club Membership card.
 
No fish are to be removed from the lake .
No keepnets to be used by pleasure anglers.
Fishing only from dawn to dusk.
Bread and floating baits not permitted
Barbless hooks only
No ground baiting
One rod in use per permit holder
No braid lines
No fixed feeders
Maximum hook size 8
No hand lines
Permit holders must observe the close season fishing 16th June- 15th March inclusive.
 
Breaking these rules will result in a FISHING BAN
 
Rules Applying When Fishing
No fishing from wildlife areas.
Do not obstruct footpaths with rods or poles
Minimise bank side noise NO RADIOS
Respect other users of the lake & its wildlife
Keep bait away from waterfowl or dogs
No children under 12 years old to fish unless accompanied by an adult
No fishing from the balustrades or bridge areas
You must produce your Permit or Newent Angling Club card if asked by the Bailiff or Newent Town Council official
Leave NO LITTER
NO LIGHTING FIRES
